In the view of Mussah Dankwah, Boakye Agyarko appears to have a bad relationship with former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; therefore, the delegates are concerned that he may not be able to function properly if he is elected chairman.
Ahead of the NPP chairmanship race, Boakye Agyarko is paying the price of comments he made during the flagbearer campaign period, Executive Director of Global InforAnalytics, Mussah Dankwah, has said.
In the view of Mussah Dankwah, Boakye Agyarko appears to have a bad relationship with former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; therefore, the delegates are concerned that he may not be able to function properly if he is elected chairman.
"He is paying the price for things he said during the campaign. His relationship with Nana was not that good, and Nana Addo is a senior man in the party; if he becomes chairman, what kind of relationship is he going to have with him," he said on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, October 3.
But for his part, Dr Kwame Asah Asante, a political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, said that the NPP needs Boakye Agyarko as their chairman at this time because the party is in a bit of disarray.
"What the NPP needs is somebody who is disciplined, firm, and focused. Do you need somebody who can give you power or just to glorify somebody? I believe that in this material time, Agyarko should be the man. He is a man of ideas," he said.
The NPP is going to the polls to elect national executives today, Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
This forms part of the party's preparations ahead of the 2028 general elections.
