Ghanaian midfielder Rahim Ibrahim has received his first senior call-up to the Black Stars, earning a late invitation from head coach Carlos Queiroz ahead of Ghana’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The 25-year-old Slovan Bratislava midfielder has been rewarded for his impressive form in Slovakia and his recent performances on the European stage, including his UEFA Champions League debut against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month. Ibrahim started Slovan Bratislava’s Champions League league-phase encounter against PSG at the Parc des Princes and played about an hour as the Slovak champions suffered a 6–1 defeat. He also featured in all six of Slovan’s qualifying matches as the club secured its place in the league phase. His call-up represents another major step in a career that began with Accra Lions before he moved to Slovakia and joined AS Trenčín in 2020. He later signed a four-year contract with Slovan Bratislava in 2025, where he has established himself as an important member of the squad. The Ghana Football Association confirmed Ibrahim as one of nine additions to the Black Stars squad following medical concerns and withdrawals involving several players. Ghana are scheduled to face Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24, followed by The Gambia in Accra on September 29, before an international friendly against Morocco on October 4. For Ibrahim, the invitation marks a significant milestone—from Accra Lions to Slovan Bratislava, the UEFA Champions League and now the senior Ghana national team. He will now have the opportunity to make his Black Stars debut and compete for a regular place in Queiroz’s midfield. source: MSTV GH
