Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has delivered a heartfelt and inspiring speech at the launch of the RNAQ Foundation’s Ga-Dangme Youth Scholarship Fund, before respectfully bowing to H.R.M. King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, in a powerful display of respect for Ga-Dangme traditional leadership. The event, held under the theme “One Ga-Dangme, One Heart, Rising Together,” brought together traditional rulers, community leaders, prominent personalities and members of the Ga-Dangme community. The scholarship initiative, established by the RNAQ Foundation in collaboration with the Ga Mantse, is dedicated to supporting the educational aspirations of young people within the Ga-Dangme community, particularly students who face financial difficulties in pursuing their education. In his remarks, Shatta Wale emphasised the importance of education, unity and collective responsibility in building a stronger future for the Ga-Dangme people and Ghana as a whole. He acknowledged the significance of investing in young people, stressing that education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming communities and creating opportunities for the next generation. He commended Richard Nii Armah Quaye (RNAQ) and the RNAQ Foundation for establishing a scholarship programme focused on young people and described the initiative as an important contribution to the development of the Ga-Dangme community. Shatta Wale also paid tribute to H.R.M. King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, acknowledging the Ga Mantse's leadership and the importance of traditional institutions in preserving the identity, culture and unity of the Ga-Dangme people. He called on successful individuals, businesses and other members of the community to contribute to initiatives that provide opportunities for young people. According to the spirit of his message, the responsibility of developing the community should not rest on one individual or organisation. Rather, it requires collective action, unity and a commitment to supporting the next generation. The artiste's message resonated with the central theme of the gathering — “One Ga-Dangme, One Heart, Rising Together” — which seeks to promote unity and collective progress among the Ga-Dangme people. Following his remarks, Shatta Wale respectfully bowed before the Ga Mantse, a gesture that drew attention at the event and symbolised his respect for the traditional authority and cultural heritage of the Ga-Dangme people. The launch of the Ga-Dangme Youth Scholarship Fund marks a significant step towards supporting young people who might otherwise struggle to continue their education because of financial challenges. The initiative is expected to provide opportunities for deserving students while encouraging the wider community to see education as a shared responsibility and a foundation for sustainable development. The event ultimately carried a strong message: when the Ga-Dangme community stands together, invests in its youth and supports education, it creates a stronger foundation for the future. “One Ga-Dangme, One Heart, Rising Together.” Shatta wale(shatta movement)
