Ghana and Saudi Arabia are exploring opportunities to deepen economic cooperation, with particular focus on railway development and energy infrastructure. The discussions took place during a bilateral meeting in New York between Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and his Saudi Arabian counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding relations between Ghana and Saudi Arabia while identifying areas where increased Saudi investment could support Ghana’s development priorities. The two ministers also agreed to strengthen cooperation on key continental issues as Ghana prepares to assume the Chairmanship of the African Union. According to the discussions, both countries are expected to accelerate high-level engagements aimed at attracting greater investment and expanding bilateral economic cooperation. The proposed cooperation forms part of efforts to support President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda, particularly through investments in strategic infrastructure and other sectors considered critical to Ghana’s economic transformation. The engagement underscores Ghana’s efforts to deepen partnerships with strategic international partners and mobilise investment for major infrastructure projects.
