Construction of a new mosque at the James Fort Prison Camp has commenced, following the mobilisation of contractors to the project site about two weeks ago. The project is being undertaken by the Ghana Academy of Muslim Professionals, as part of efforts to provide a suitable place of worship and support the spiritual well-being of Muslims within the prison community. Since work began, the contractors have made progress on the initial stages of construction. Activities completed so far include the demarcation of the project site, excavation and concrete works. The early progress signals the beginning of the main construction phase, with further works expected to continue as the project advances. The new mosque is expected to serve as an important facility for Muslim inmates and staff at the James Fort Prison Camp, providing a dedicated space for congregational prayers, religious education and other Islamic activities.
